Hexagon Cell
The hexagon cell has more open angles, thus providing more effective pick-up and release than pyramid and quad cells.

Crosshatch Cell
Crosshatch engravings are used to apply heavy coatings such as glue applications. The point is standing up on the roll, thereby causing the least amount of land area of any cell structure for supporting the doctor blade. It penetrates the goods slightly thus facilitating excellent release of the coating being applied.

Promiscuous Pin
Promiscuous pins are generally used for color correction coatings where a non-geometric laydown color is desirable. This type of pin has a round bottom on a cup shaped cell. As a result, it holds the lacquer firmly until the release point of "nip" is reached.
